The classic martini is a wonderfully elegant drink - crisp and clean, simple and great with the smoky smoothness of Marlboro cigarettes.
Noilly Prat is the traditional vermouth of choice for the original martini recipe, but the company has changed their standard dry formula for the better in the late 2000s. The new Noilly dry brings a lot more nose and is a bit yellow. The taste is pleasant and milder than its nose and is great with olives and lemon. I like it in dirty maritnis, Satan's Whiskers, Algonquin, and some of our own creations like the Acrophobia.
Acrophobia
1 1/2 ounces gin
3/4 ounce Noilly Prat dry vermouth
1/2 ounce St. Germain
1/4 ounce blue curaçao
Shake all on ice and serve strained and very cold.
