Don's Mix, part 2

We introduced you to Don the Beachcomber in September last year, but actually this is the season for his Tiki sensations like the Zombie and Mai Tai. We absolutely love to pour Zombies at the Lounge; we even go so far as to make virgin Zombies for the kids. There is a problem, however. You need Don's mix for a perfect Zombie (see our recipe for the Zombie and Don's Mix here).

The conundrum isn't making Don's Mix - it's quite simple really - the problem is that Zombies use so little Mix that you have a bunch left over. While cinnamon-grapefruit juice makes for an interesting mixer, you just don't want to drink it straight. So use it! I have a few classics that I slide Don's into, so get a pen!

Tikihound (from a Greyhound) - 2 oz. vodka, 5 oz. grapefruit juice, 1 1/2 oz. Don's Mix.
Caribou Don (from a Caribou Lou) - 1 1/2 oz. 151, 1 oz. Malibu, 5 oz. pineapple juice, 1 oz. Don's Mix.
Don's Cup (from a Pimm's Cup) - 2 oz. Pimm's, 3 oz. lemonade, 1 1/2 oz. Don's Mix, splash ginger beer.

Don's Margarita
Holly's Originals (or Holly's riff on a Classic Pour)

1 1/2 ounce tequila
1 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ounce Don's Mix
1/2 ounce Cointreau

Salt a margarita glass by moistening the rim with a cut lime and dip in sea salt. Shake all ingredients in a shaker, strain into the margarita glass.

Tiki Meets Tennessee
Holly's Originals

2 ounces Jack Daniel's
3/4 ounce Don's Mix
4 ounces freshly squeezed and strained watermelon juice

Shake all on ice, strain into a rocks glass. Garnish with a watermelon rind. If you didn't know, watermelon juice separates like crazy, so if you have leftovers, remember to shake it well before you drink it (it's still good)!
